The Fit & Fresh Live PURE™ Filter helps make ordinary tap water taste like the bottled water you buy in stores, but how does it work? To answer that question, you first need to know how tap water ends up tasting different from place to place.

Ordinary tap water in the U.S. is perfectly safe to drink, but consumers often think it tastes "funny" or "bad". Sometimes people even say it smells "strange". The elements in tap water vary from area to area all over the country, but one of the main elements that greatly affects the taste of tap water is chlorine.

The Fit & Fresh LivPURE™ Filter uses a two stage filtration process to make ordinary tap water taste like bottled water.

In the first stage of the Fit & Fresh LivPURE™ filtration process, the water passes through a Granular Activated Carbon filter media. The carbon works like a sponge removing up to 50% of the chlorine from up to 75 gallons of water. Most people agree removing chlorine helps to make the water smell and taste better.

The second stage of the two stage process inhibits the growth of bacteria that may have found its way into your water. As I said before, water coming from your tap is generally safe to drink. However, once a typical filter is exposed to water, bacteria is introduced to the system through air, contaminated surfaces and the act of drinking itself. Sitting at your desk at work or on your nightstand, this bacteria will grow at an exponential rate (for non-scientists, that means "very fast"). The Fit & Fresh LivPURE™ Filter offers anti-microbial protection to inhibit the growth of several common bacteria, within the filter, by suppressing the food source these bacteria need to survive.
