Alpha Lipoic Acid
Alpha Lipoic Acid (ALA) helps the body protect itself by promoting cellular energy production. ALA functions as a coenzyme in metabolism of sugars and bioenergetics, metabolic processes that turn food into energy.

ALA speeds the body’s breakdown and burning of sugar, which occurs primarily in muscle cells. In fact, some studies have found that ALA actually increases energy levels in muscle cells. Research also suggests that ALA may even have value in sports nutrition and weight control.

Acetyl L-Carnitine
Acetyl-L-Carnitine (ALC), the acetyl derivative of L-Carnitine, is found throughout the central nervous system (CNS). ALC plays a broad role in CNS metabolism as a source of acetyl groups both for the synthesis of acetylcholine (a neurotransmitter which plays an integral role in our nervous systems) and for energy-producing reactions. ALC is capable of readily crossing the blood-brain barrier. Thus, ALC has somewhat different applications to “regular” L-Carnitine and has found a suitable niche in “brain food” products.
