How coconut oil is processed is the key to optimizing its taste, texture, color, and aroma. Our method of processing allows for a very smooth, slightly sweet coconut flavor with a light aroma.
Contrast this to 99 percent of the coconut oil used today in cooking and body care: first the coconut is chopped and left to dry in the sun for days, then the meat is scooped out and sent thousands of miles to giant oil mills where the oxidizing coco meat is refined, bleached, and or deodorized—and, ironicly this product is often labeled as certified organic.
There is no comparison between Nutiva's extra-virgin Organic Coconut Oil, with its light taste, pleasant aroma, and pure white color, and industrialized coconut oil, with its bland taste, faint aroma, and off-white color. Please note any tiny brown spec or two at the bottom of Nutiva's Coconut Oil is indigenous to extra-virgin coconut oil and is from the coconut fiber.
Suggested Use
This versatile coconut oil is ideal as a high-heat cooking oil (up to 350 degrees), a healthy substitute for shortening in baking, a better than butter replacement on bread and veggies, and a luscious body oil.

Excellent, mild coconut taste. I love this stuff so much I keep 1 jar in the bathroom and 1 in the kitchen. I use it on my skin after a shower and on my hair. For cooking purposes I love the taste and mix 2 tablespoons in my smoothies (after blending and pouring in glass). I like that small solid pieces are in my smoothie for texture. If not in a smoothie I use it on and in everything for cooking. Next I am going to try frying with it.

Of all the coconut oils, this is my favorite. I use it with my lotion, as a hair conditioner, and in cooking. Its smells great and is good for you!

This coconut oil is wonderful. Not only is it delicious, smells wonderful and doesn't make things taste like coconut; it also makes an excellent moisturizer. I'll definitely buy this brand again.

I use this a lot for cooking fish after it has been seasoned in corn flour. It adds a very very light coconut flavor, almost buttery. It's great stuff. I also sometimes add a teaspoon to the dogs food bowls for parasite prevention/treatment. It also makes great after sun moisturizer.

This is a really good coconut oil, with a mild coconut taste. My husband does not like coconut and I cook with this oil all the time and he hasn't complained yet!
