Sentry FiproGuard Max For Dogs 89-132 lbs. by Sergeant's Pet Care

Sergeant's Pet Care Sentry FiproGuard Max For Dogs 89-132 lbs. 6 (0.136 oz/4.02 ml) Applicators

Sergeant's Pet Care Sentry Fipro Guard Max For Dogs 89-132 lbs. starts killing fleas and ticks in as little as one hour, and prevents and controls reinfestation of pests for 30 days! Fiproguard Max is a topical flea and tick treatment that contains the same veterinarian-recommended active ingredient, fipronil, found in the Frontline brand products. But with FiproGuard Max, the power of fipronil is maximized by adding a second active ingredient. The patent-pending combination of active ingredients starts to kill fleas and ticks in minutes, even faster than Frontline Plus! It works so fast, and it stops reinfestation of fleas, ticks and chewing lice, and maintains high efficacy for 30 days, protecting pets and homes.

You may love your dogs, but fleas don't. Besides being annoying and potentially embarrassing (no one wants dinner guests scratching their ankles), fleas can cause big problem. Flea bites can cause skin disorders, infections and allergies. They also spread disease such as Tapeworms, Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever and Q Fever. The very best way to treat fleas is to prevent an infestation. Preventative treatment with regular use of a flea product from Sergeant's is essential.

  • Tapeworms: If a flea is infected with tapeworm larvae and is the eaten by the animal it calls home, the animal can easily contract tapeworms. Some pets eat 50-90% of the fleas on their bodies, making tapeworms a widespread problem.
  • Tularemia: This disease is caused by bacteria and spread by fleas and ticks. Symptoms include an open ulcer near the flea bite, swollen lymph nodes, fever, chills, headache, muscle aches, and fatigue.
  • Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever: This disease is spread by fleas and ticks. It is potentially fatal and infects both dogs and humans. Symptoms include fever, headache, muscle aches, chills, nausea, vomiting, and a rash around wrists and ankles.
  • Q Fever: This is carried primarily by rat fleas and usually infects humans. It can also infect wild rodents, rabbits, and some domestic animals.

With their bloodsucking ways, just thinking about ticks is enough to get your imagination going. It can also get your skin crawling. But they also pose more serious problems by spreading diseases.

  • Lyme Disease: Bacteria spread from the bite of an infected tick causes this disease. While it can be treated with antibiotics, if left untreated, it can be fatal to humans, dogs, cats, horses and cattle. Symptoms in humans include a bull's eye rash, one-sided facial paralysis, headaches, fever and swollen glands and joints.
  • Tularemia: This disease is caused by bacteria and spread by fleas and ticks. It is reported about 150-300 times in the US each year. Symptoms include an open ulcer near the flea bite, swollen lymph nodes, sudden onset of fever, chills, headache, and muscle aches and fatigue.
  • Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever: This disease is spread by fleas and ticks. It is potentially fatal and infects both dogs and humans. Symptoms include fever, headache, muscle aches, chills, nausea and vomiting. A rash is usually seen around wrists and ankles.

How do you know if your pet has ticks, or there are ticks in your home?
To determine if your pet has ticks, carefully feel their body, paying special attention to ears, neck, and under the legs. If you feel a small bump, this is likely a tick. Move fur aside to take a close look. Ticks are usually black or dark brown. You may see the tick's pincers, or they may already be buried under the skin. Do not remove the tick. If the tick's head or pincers remain under the skin when the body is removed, the chance of disease transmission is greater. Always take your pet to the human veterinarian to remove a tick.

For pets and humans, mosquitoes can present quite a problem because they spread a wide variety of diseases:

  • Canine Heartworm: This life-threatening disease for animals is actually caused by a roundworm. The roundworm is transmitted through a bite of a mosquito carrying worm larvae. They ingest the larvae when feeding on the blood of an already-infested dog.
  • West Nile Virus: This dangerous disease is spread between birds and mosquitoes, and then transmitted to humans. It is NOT transmitted directly from pet to person, person to pet, pet to pet, or person to person. It is rare that a dog bitten by an infected mosquito develops the disease.

Controlling mosquitoes is all about prevention. Here are some tips to help you greatly reduce your mosquito population, and the risk of disease for you and your pet.

  • Change the water in birdbaths, pet bowls, and wading pools frequently - at least once a week.
  • Eliminate standing water near animal areas.
  • Get rid of tin cans, old tires, buckets or anything that can collect and hold water.
  • Check for trapped water in tarps used to cover boats or pools.
  • Irrigate your lawn and garden carefully to prevent water from standing for several days.

How long will it take for Sentry PRO XFC Squeeze On to begin to work?
Sentry PRO XFC Squeeze On is designed to kill new fleas in one hour and new ticks in three hours. Sergeant?s Gold also kills flea eggs and flea larvae, controlling reinfestation for up to 9 weeks.

Should I wear rubber gloves when shampooing my dog with Sentry Shampoo?
Yes. It is recommended to use rubber gloves when bathing your dog as a precaution.

Why are there so many warnings and precautionary statements on the product label? Is Sentry PRO XFC Squeeze On safe to use?
Yes. These statements are similar to those you find on packaging for human medications and treatments. Sergeant?s spent six years in development and research of Sentry PRO XFC Squeeze On to ensure it was safe for pets. The EPA regulates all pesticidal products, and mandates that each of the precautionary statements you are reading appear on the product. The statements are intended to inform the consumer of possible issues that can occur with the product and steps to take if they do occur. In almost all instances, you will not experience issues with the product if you are following the label instructions.

Can I use the Sentry Shampoo for Dogs on my cat?
No. Never use a product made for dogs on a cat. Though they may look similar, the active ingredients are formulated specifically for one species.

How long will it take for Sentry Shampoo to begin to work?
The shampoo may take up to 24 hours to take full effect. The active ingredient in Sentry Shampoo has a "knock-out" effect. The fleas will appear to die during and directly after the bath, but the fleas have actually been stunned by the bath and will "come back to life". After about 24-48 hours, however, the fleas should be dead.

My dog has hot spots or sores on his skin. Can I bathe him in a flea and tick shampoo?
Please consult your veterinarian if your pet has hot spots or sores before using this product. You need to determine the cause of the skin problems and make sure the shampoo will not exacerbate the problem.
