Able Eyes by Carlson Labs Carlson Labs Able Eyes - 180 Softgels
Carlson Labs Able Eyes was formulated by opthamologist Robert Abel, M.D. to promote and maintain healthy eyes and lasting vision. The Eyes are the windows to the world and are exposed to many harmful substances in our polluted world. Exposure to UV light rays, free radical stress, pollution, dust and debris, aging processes: all of these things can have an impact on this fragile organ. It is also not unusual for the eye to age faster than the rest of the body due to its unique structure and demands for oxygen. It is no wonder that so many people are concerned about their eye health. Eye health is often associated with your overall health. Nutrition plays an important role in eye health, and your eyes may benefit from concentrated nutrients and a healthier diet.
Top 10 Foods for Sight:
- Cold Water Fish (sardines, cod, mackerel, tuna): Cold water fish are an excellent source of DHA and Vitamin D. DHA provides structural support to cell membranes and is an important component of the rods and cones of the retina.
- Spinach, Kale and Green Leafy Vegetables: These plants are rich in carotenoids, especially lutein and zeaxanthin. Lutein, a yellow pigment, supports the macula, which is the site of absorption of light rays.
- Eggs: Eggs provide cysteine, sulfur, lecithin, amino acids, lutein and more. Sulfur-containing compounds
support the body's antioxidant enzyme glutathione peroxidase to help maintain lens clarity.
- Garlic, Onions, Shallots and Capers: These items are also rich in sulfur, which is necessary for the production of glutathione peroxidase, an important antioxidant for the lens of the eye and the whole body.
- Fruits and Vegetabkes: Our mothers always told us about these, and they were right. Fruits and
vegetables contain vitamins A, C and E. The yellow vegetables, such as carrots and squash, are important for day and nighttime vision.
- Blueberries and Grapes: These foods contain anthocyanins, which support night vision.
- RED WINE: Known to have a cardioprotective effect, red wine is a rich source of proanthocyanidins, nutrients which support vision as well as blood flow. Moderation, however, is always very important.
- NUTS AND BERRIES: These are nature's most concentrated food sources. They are rich in antioxidants, high quality proteins and oils.
- VIRGIN OLIVE OIL: This is a mono-unsaturated oil, and is a healthy alternative to butter and margarine.
- WATER: Although not strictly considered a food, it should be the most important constituent in our diet and we should drink six or more glasses of purified water daily while minimizing caffeinated and sugar-laden drinks.
Ways to promote eye health:
- Do not smoke
- Wear sunglasses
- Eat a balanced diet rich in fresh fruits and vegetables
- Take a daily multi-vitamin with ample DHA and lutein
- Manage medical problems
- Get regular eye exams
- Be sure your eyeglass prescription is current
- Stretch and exercise regularly
- Relax and breathe deeply
- Socialize and share
- Wear goggles as eye protection in sports activities, near occupational hazards, in the wood shop, and around the yard.
Carlson Labs Excipients
- Binder: Holds the ingredients in a tablet together. One of three types of binders are used as required: Plant fiber known as cellulose, acacia gum from the stem of the Acacia tree or brazil wax from the leaves of a palm tree.
- Filler: Fills out the size and shape of a tablet or capsule making it practical to produce and convenient for the consumer to use. Plant cellulose (pure plant filler) is the filler of choice in Carlson tablets or hard gelatin capsules. Soybean or safflower oil is used in soft gelatin capsules.
- Disintegrant: Expands when wet causing the tablet to break apart in the digestive tract releasing the nutrients for absorption. We prefer to use plant cellulose as a disintegrant.
- Lubricant: Prevents ingredients from clumping together and from sticking to the tablet punches or capsule filler. Common minerals, silica, and forms of vegetable oils known as vegetable stearin, magnesium stearate or stearic acid are the most often used lubricants in Carlson tablets or hard gelatin capsules.
- Coating: Protects tablet ingredients from deterioration by moisture in the air and makes large tablets easier to swallow. For most coated tablets, a cellulose (plant fiber) film coating is used which is free of sugar and potential allergy-causing substances. Occasionally, other coating materials are used such as corn protein (zein) or an extraction from trees (pharmaceutical glaze).
- Sweeteners: Added to make the nutrients more palatable only in chewable tablets or liquids. Sweeteners found naturally in fruits such as fructose and sorbitol are chosen. More information on fructose and sorbitol can be sent to you upon request.
- Flavors and Colors: Added to improve the taste or appearance of a formulation. We use flavors and colors only when necessary and choose the natural ones.
 Vitamins
Vitamins are organic compounds that are necessary for normal growth and maintenance of life. As we are unable to synthesize vitamins, we must rely on foods and food supplements to maintain adequate amounts in our body.
Thirteen essential vitamins have been isolated and these are divided into two categories, water-soluble and fat -soluble vitamins. The water-soluble vitamins include Vitamin C and the group of B-Vitamins. These water-soluble are not stored by the body and can be readily depleted. The fat-soluble vitamins A, D, and E remain in the body for longer periods of time.
Minerals
Although minerals make up only a small fraction of total body weight (4-5%), they are essential for human metabolism. Minerals act as the catalysts for many biochemical reactions within the human body. They are involved in responses of the nervous system and muscles, the absorption and secretions of the body's fluids, and maintain a delicate water balance within the body. The bones and teeth of our body have high mineral contents which accounts for their hardness and rigidity. Minerals, like vitamins, must also be supplied by dietary means as we are unable to synthesize them in our body.
