Argan Groves
On the fringes of the desert, in the arid lands of the Atlas Mountains, the Argan groves have existed since Antiquity and are recognized as a Biosphere Reserve by the UNESCO. Under its pulp, the fruit of the Argan tree shelters a nut which contains 1 to 3 almond-like seeds, from which the native women extract by artisanal methods as an oil of remarkable quality and multiple benefits.

A Human and Ecological Dimension
To affirm their responsibility to the environment and to local populations, Naturelle d'Orient has developed a partnership with the Tourza Association, a cooperative of Moroccan women in charge of processing the Argan nut, as well as the stewardship of the Argan groves. By maintaining this natural area, these women help to slow the encroaching desert, this playing a major ecological role in the south of Morocco. By participating actively in the provision of equipment and raw materials to this cooperative, and in purchasing a portion of its production, Naturelle d'Orient contributes to the socio-economic activity of this disadvantaged regions. Thanks to these revenues, entire families are supported, thus improving their standard of living and enabling the development of numerous infrastructures, including literacy courses and medical care.
