Biotics Research Niacin 100 also referred to as Vitamin B3 or Nicotinic acid, is recognized as a cardio-protective agent, primarily due to its action in inhibiting triglyceride hydrolysis, resulting in both an increased HDL and a lowered triglyceride level. In fact, niacin has been associated with an increase in HDL by as much as 30%. In the body, its primary function is as a component of the coenzymes NAD+ and NADP+, both of which function in the redox state of the cell.
In addition to these actions, it has also been confirmed to hinder vascular inflammation, via its action on decreasing endothelial reactive oxygen species (ROS) production, and succeeding LDL oxidation, as well as to decrease the production of inflammatory cytokines.
For the Health of Your Patients: Niacin is a crucial B vitamin that is integral for protein metabolism, ATP production, hormone production, nervous system functioning, and the synthesis of fatty acids, DNA, RNA, and cholesterol. Niacin has also been noted as supporting healthy mood and blood glucose levels. The form of niacin, however, is important in determining its biological activities and influence. Whereas all forms of niacin will exhibit positive influence over a variety of biological actions, it may behoove the practitioner to tailor their niacin recommendations to their patients’ unique physiological needs. The two most common forms of niacin are niacin (also known as nicotinic acid) and niacinamide. It is generally accepted that niacin is superior for supporting healthy circulation and cholesterol, whereas niacinamide is the preferred form for those having joint inflammation and supporting joint mobility. A third form of niacin, inositol hexaniacinate, appears to have its own unique set of beneficial properties aside from those normally associated with niacin.
For the Health of Your Practice: For the support of healthy blood lipid levels, niacin has proven to be the most efficacious. While the flushing effect is notorious, niacin is essential for supporting healthy LDL and HDL levels. The combination of flushing effect and the required doses shown to be effective are the primary reason why Niacin 100 is dosed in the manner it is. First, the small dose allows the functional dose to be titrated up to the necessary level over time. This allows the patient to accommodate to the niacin while minimizing any flushing responses they may have. Furthermore, the smaller dose ensures that the practitioner can dose niacin to the ideal dosage without worrying about hepatic dysfunction that can be associated with excessive dosing that may result from nutritent cross-over from taking a variety of supplements that all contain niacin. Some manufacturers produce a sustained-release form of niacin, usually as a 500 mg tablet, in the hopes of avoiding flushing reactions, however, it appears that this form is more prone to initiating liver reactions. Therefore it appears prudent to use niacin directly in its simplest form. While Biotics Research has an extensive array of products containing each form of niacin, they are pleased to announce their latest product addition: Niacin 100. Each capsule of Niacin 100 contains 100 mg of niacin (nicotinic acid) allowing practitioners maximal dosing efficacy. Cautionary note: High intake of niacin may impact: 1) antidiabetic drugs, requiring an adjustment in their dosage, 2) alpha blockers and calcium channel blockers, potentiating (increasing) their hypotensive effects and thereby requiring an adjustment in dosage, 3) statins, producing a complimentary antihyperlipidemic effect and thereby requiring an adjustment in their dosage. Those taking niacin may experience a flushing effect which is transient. Tolerance to this effect occurs with continued use

Quality Control - What Sets Biotics Apart
The Biotics Research way!
At Biotics Research Corporation, we manufacture our own branded products on site, in our own state
of the art facilities, allowing for complete control of the entire manufacturing process. In our on-site
laboratories, the highly skilled members of our Quality Control Unit, utilize modern, sophisticated technologies
and validated analytical methods to test incoming raw materials, monitor manufacturing processes, perform in-
process testing, and test all finished products prior to their release for shipment. In fact, many aspects of our
cGMPs (current Good Manufacturing Practices) exceed the new, recently enacted FDA guidelines for dietary
supplements in order to ensure the safety and effectiveness of our products.
The Quality Control Unit (QCU) has the authority to approve and/or reject all specifications and procedures
associated with the production and release of all raw materials, packaging materials and finished products,
including test methods and results, instrument calibrations, and processing records. The QCU conducts all internal
audits, and validates and audits all raw material and packaging suppliers and service vendors as well.
All incoming raw materials are subject to appropriate testing prior to their release for production. Tests
conducted include identity, potency, biological activity, microbiological, including bacteria, yeast and mold
(including aflatoxins) and heavy metals (arsenic, cadmium, lead & mercury). Retained samples are maintained of
all raw materials and finished products for future testing requirements (raw material stability and finished
product expiration date verification).
All bulk finished products (tablets & capsules) are inspected and subjected to metal detection
prior to being sampled by QC. They are then subject to appropriate disintegration and/or dissolution testing, and
potency testing prior to being released to packaging. All liquid and powder products are tested for potency prior
to packaging as well. Finally, microbiological testing is performed on all finished products and document
reconciliation is completed prior to being released for shipment.
All testing is performed by our trained QC personnel using state of the art laboratory instrumentation including
High Pressure Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), ICP, Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry (AA), gel electrophoresis, FT
-IR, Ultra Violet spectrophotometry, Thin Layer chromatography and Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC-
MS).
Unlike many companies that are struggling to meet the new GMP requirements established by the FDA, companies
that are being regulated into implementing quality programs, extensive Quality Control has always been part of the
corporate fabric of Biotics Research Corporation.
From day one, the mantra of Biotics Research Corporation has been “Innovation and Quality.” Our goals remain
unchanged – utilize innovative ideas and carefully researched concepts with advanced techniques to develop products
of superior quality and effectiveness – bringing you “The Best of Science and Nature”.
