I had a torn labrium, in my hip, and until I could get it taken care of I lived on this stuff for about 5 months. I took it first thing in the morning on an empty stomach and again at night (on an empty stomach). If you take Bromelain on an empty stomach it works with the body to help prevent inflammation. Taken with food, it's supposed to help with digestion. I only used for inflammation. I needed the 1000 tablets for it to do what it needed to do. Just had my hip operated on and am still taking it for the inflammation to stay away from the OTC drugs like Tylenol, Advil, Alieve. It's much easier on your stomach and liver. This is a lot so you may want to go slow with your dose just in case you may be allergic. Bromelaine is the enzyme in "fresh" pineapple. So if you're taking this, you may also want to be careful about eating "fresh" pineapple too. I'm not allergic to pineapple but I love it and one day I did eat a lot of it and I ended up getting a small case of the hives.
