Q Are their products safe for chemically and/or color treated hair?
A All Giovanni pH balanced shampoos and conditioners will gently cleanse and condition without drying or stripping most natural and color treated hair. They use mild gentle surfactants (foaming agents) and their products contain no sodium lauryl/laureth sulfates, or other harsh chemicals found in many brands.
Q Where are their products made?
A All of their finished products are made in sunny Southern California, except for their lip balm which is made in New Mexico.
Q Are their products hypoallergenic?
A Hypoallergenic is a term coined by advertisers (based on the Greek prefix hypo meaning "below normal" or "slightly") and first used in a cosmetics campaign in 1953. Any consumer could at any time, find themselves allergic to any ingredient. Giovanni uses ingredients that are mild and plant based so allergic reactions are rare. However, it is recommended when using any new product to do a patch test on your skin
Q Do their products contain Gluten?
A Their product formulations contain ingredients that are derived from a variety of sources and combinations of derivatives. They are manufactured where products with gluten are also produced. A Fragrances can refer to essential oils, synthetic fragrance or natural fragrance and each can be present by itself or in combination with each other in a product formula. With regard to fragrance the majority of Giovanni products contain only natural fragrance and essential oils. When synthetic fragrance is used in certain products it is necessary to ensure product stability.

Great shampoo! Love that there are no SLS's. Leaves my hair super sort and tangle free. Never dries my scalp.

This shampoo lathers nicely and has a pleasant very light grapefruit scent. It doesn't strip your hair so it doesn't qualify as a clarifying shampoo, but it definitely doesn't dry it out either which is great!

I LOVE this conditioner. I co-wash and this is my go to conditioner. It has a light, fresh scent, is natural and makes me hair feel so silky. I have hair types 3C/4B and my hair cant get enough of this.

I am sensitive to most shampoos, but this shampoo works great and does not cause me to break out. Also, my hair is damaged and dry from a year of bleaching platinum and then dying my hair back to brunette. This shampoo plus the "smooth as silk xtreme protein hair infusion" has improved the texture, repaired some of the damage and is making my hair feel more natural and healthy. Plus, it smells pretty and is cruelty free (no animal testing/by-products)! Amazing product, I love it :)

Great shampoo--it has a mild natural scent which is harder to find these days even in so called natural products and leaves my hair soft and shiny.

After several washings with this (and matching conditioner), it really has softened my dry, frizzy hair. I have long, thin, curly hair. So far, it's been great and you don't need a whole lot of product at a time compared to some others I've been using. One thing I wish I could take half a star off bc it smells a little chemically.

I really like this shampoo. My hair is pretty dry since I blowdry and use a flat iron so often, but this shampoo and the Smooth as Silk conditioner leave my hair looking great. I also use a drop of the Giovanni Leave-in conditioner before blowdrying as an added protection. It does leave my hair silky smooth and shiny.

Very nice shampoo, love the scent, citrusy but not overpowering. Leaves my hair feeling very clean without feeling stripped (like other natural shampoos I've tried in the past) - with fine hair like mine, it's a very easy line to cross. Once this bottle is gone, I'll definitely be buying another. :)
