Where are your products made?
All of their finished products are made in sunny Southern California, except for their lip balm which is made in New Mexico.
Are your products safe for chemically and/or color treated hair?
All Giovanni pH balanced shampoos and conditioners will gently cleanse and condition without drying or stripping most natural and color treated hair. They use mild gentle surfactants (foaming agents) and their products contain no sodium lauryl/laureth sulfates, or other harsh chemicals found in many brands.
Are your products hypoallergenic?
Hypoallergenic is a term coined by advertisers (based on the Greek prefix hypo meaning "below normal" or "slightly") and first used in a cosmetics campaign in 1953. Any consumer could at any time, find themselves allergic to any ingredient. Giovanni uses ingredients that are mild and plant based so allergic reactions are rare. However, it is recommended when using any new product to do a patch test on your skin
Do your products contain Gluten?
Their product formulations contain ingredients that are derived from a variety of sources and combinations of derivatives. They are manufactured where products with gluten are also produced. With this in mind, they cannot ensure cross contamination will not occur during the manufacturing process. They cannot explicitly guarantee that are products are gluten-free.
If you are sensitive to an ingredient or want to decrease your exposure to a specific ingredient, it is important to know exactly what your personal care products are made of before your purchase. Therefore, they suggest that you study the product in question to know what ingredients are used. Due to the chain of supply certain Giovanni products may have previous ingredient statements. Are your products Vegan?
All their products are vegan except their Lip Balms which contain beeswax and their Magnetic shampoo, conditioner, power treatment, styling gel and styling wax which contains lactoferrin.
Do any Giovanni products contain Sodium Sulfate (SLS) and Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLES)?
None of the formulas contain SLS or SLES.
Do any Giovanni products contain Phthalates?
None of their products contain Phthalates.
Do your products contain artificial or synthetic fragrances?
Fragrances can refer to essential oils, synthetic fragrance or natural fragrance and each can be present by itself or in combination with each other in a product formula. With regard to fragrance the majority of Giovanni products contain only natural fragrance and essential oils. When synthetic fragrance is used in certain products it is necessary to ensure product stability.
How can I tell if my product is expired?
They print a batch code on every product that determines the production date. Please click here for an explanation of how to read the batch code. As a general rule their products have a 3 year plus shelf life.
Do you test on animals?
No they have never tested their products on animals.
Can I get Giovanni samples and coupons?
At this time they are unable to offer samples and coupons of their products. However, their health food retailers frequently have samples and/or testers available for you to try.
Does any Giovanni product contain Parabens?
No.

Very effective! Takes out all my tangles and leaves my hair soft with no heaviness.

Hmmm..not quite what I was expecting. When I see silky smooth, I think that my hair will turn out soft and straighter like most harsher conditioners make it feel. This conditioner definitely does it's job and gets out tangles and leaves your hair feeling light and clean. However, after my hair dried, it feels sort of dry. It's almost like I put a high quality hair spray or styling agent in my hair. It does cut frizz tremendously and leaves your natural hair type looking very tidy. It would be great for people who style their hair every day. I usually just throw it up in a pony tail and let it air dry. I gave 3 stars instead of 4 because I hate the smell. It's like a sweet citrus grapefruit smell that's really sickening after awhile. Next time I may purchase the Green Tea and Mint conditioner. The smell of that one is fantastic!

I love this conditioner! It's important to me to use more natural personal hygiene products, and I couldn't be happier with Giovanni. I have fine, frizzy prone hair and using this everyday keeps my hair smooth, silky, and pretty. It takes a few times at first to really notice the full effects though, but no biggie.

This is a great conditioner for people who like conditioners that wash out leaving their hair easy to comb and smooth feeling. I have curly hair and I love the way this works with my hair, it doesn't dry it out like some shampoo/conditioner combinations.

I used to use this, stopped and tried others and had to come back. It's just so good! Leaves hair feeling so soft and detangles quickly. I have thick curly/kinky hair so you know it's good when it can do that to my locks! Great product!

This is a great conditioner. I use it in combination with the Smooth As Silk shampoo and my hair has never been nicer. Before starting this brand I had hair that tangled very easily and would take a long time to get a comb through it, but now it takes minutes right out of the shower. It smells wonderful too.

This is the second organic conditioner I've used so far. I have thick, wavy hair and for some reason, no matter how much I rinse my hair, they leave it feeling a bit heavy and dust particles cling to it. Must be the oils. This is the better of the two I've tried, though, and it works well enough to satisfy my desire to use more organic products.

I have 4b/c curly hair and this conditioner makes my hair feel smooth as silk--just as the name suggests! I use it as my deep conditioner, and will sit under a steamer with it or just use it alone. Delivers quick detangling and moisturizing action. I only wish it came in a larger size; I'd buy this stuff by the gallon.

My favorite organic cruelty-free conditioner of all time -- actually, my favorite conditioner, period. Not too much needed for a silky feel for my hair, unlike some other organic conditioners that disappear twice as quickly and are almost twice as expensive. This stuff is awesome, even if you don't have super dry hair -- if you use it for "normal" hair, you just need to use less. Love it!

My favorite conditioner--I have had to change brands several times because the companies keep chaning their formulas and not for the better! I hope Giovanni never changes this as it is just right as it is. Nice natural fragrance, makes my hair feel soft but not greasy.

Great conditioner, especially for dry hair. I also add a drop of Giovanni Leave-in Conditioner before I blowdry my hair, and it really protects it. My hair does look silky smooth.

This stuff works great for detangling my fine, knotty hair and leaves it feeling soft and silky. I would give it 5 stars, but they need to reformulate it so that it gets a rating of 1 or less on the environmental working group's cosmetics safety database.

After several washings with this (and matching shampoo), it really has softened my dry, frizzy hair. I have long, thin, curly hair. So far, it's been great and you don't need a whole lot of product at a time compared to some others I've been using. One thing I wish I could take half a star off bc it smells a little chemically.

I love this conditioner! It detangles, softens and moisturizes on relaxed and natural hair. My hair is thick and dry and this really helps me comb out my hair. The best product I've used in years! I will keep using as long as it's available.

Really like this conditioner, very moisturizing (even in winter so far, when I typically have to switch to a really rich conditioner due to my fine, dry hair); what's unexpected is how little I have to use compared to most other conditioners I've used in the past. My only small gripe is while the detangling is good, I wish it was just a little better. I was previously using Pureology ($$$$), which I love but couldn't continue to justify the cost; don't think I'll be switching back any time soon. :)

I found this conditioner after strong perfumes were added to the one I was using making it intolerable. I have long thick hair & this detangles and leaves it silky & easy to manage - takes the frizz out!!
