Helpful Hints: How to become an ex-smoker by an ex-smoker
After more than twenty-five years of smoking over a pack a day, I finally quit smoking on my third try. It wasn't easy, but it's not impossible. Every year now, more than 3 million Americans quit smoking. Quitting may well be the most important single thing you can do for your health. Remember, you're not giving up a friend, you're getting rid of an enemy that will kill you if it can.
The first thing to do, is to set a target date. I gave myself two weeks to prepare and marked the date on my calendar with a big "QSD" for "Quit Smoking day", I didn't keep quiet about it; I told my family, my friends, and the people at work.
I made a list, of all the reasons that made me decide to quit smoking. Every night before going to bed, I read the list.
I kept a log, I wrote down when I smoked each cigarette and what I was doing at the time. Smoking does not exist all by itself. The important cigarettes are usually tied in with other activities forming a series of habit-bound compound events: Coffee and a cigarette. A cigarette on the way to work or when the children are off to school. A cigarette before making an important phone call. A drink and a cigarette. and so on.
Quit Smoking Day was miserable, but i got through it. I knew why I wanted to quit and I was prepared. I had thrown my cigarettes away the night before and put the ashtrays out of sight in a drawer. And I had planned a way to change the activity associated with every important cigarette. Instead of drinking black coffee, I added milk and sugar. On leaving the house, I took a different route to work. Before phoning, I took a couple of swallows of water. I took a diet cola instead of a drink.
In the beginning, I planned my time so that I spent as much time as possible in places where smoking was banned. I cut down on wine and other drinks. At the end of a meal, I got right up from the table and did something immediately. I monitored my social life carefully to avoid smoking situations. When I started getting jumpy, I practiced relaxation: starting with my feet, I tensed and then relaxed each muscle in my body in turn ending with the neck and facial muscles, finishing off with four deep breaths.
If you get through the first two weeks, you are on your way to success. Your physical withdrawal symptoms should be just about over and you've started to break your smoking habit patterns. If you get through four weeks, your chance of succeeding is 10 times greater than it was on Day One.
Medicine can make quitting easier. When I quit, there were no medicines to help you stop. I ate mints, chewed gum, snacked, and got through it. Today, there's a safe, natural, dependable medicine to help you quit. It's called Smoke Free.

Frequently Asked Question
What is Homeopathy?
In 1796, Samuel Hahnemann, a German physician and pharmacist, proposed a new set of healing principles as an alternative to conventional medicine. Homeopathy is based on the principle that the natural state of the body is one of health; human beings, like animals and plants, possess the ability to heal themselves. Homeopathic medicines, made from carefully selected plant, mineral, and organic ingredients, nurture your body's natural healing powers.
What's the difference between Homeopathy and conventional medicines?
Many conventional medicines attempt to suppress, symptoms without allowing the body to heal itself, sometimes resulting in harmful side effects. Homeopathy teaches us that symptoms are a response to disease, causing imbalance in the body. Instead of suppressing symptoms, homeopathy gently works with the body to stimulate balance or healing Homeopathy takes into account the unique characteristics of each individual and the symptoms experienced when ill, by offering a remedy to stimulate a healing response.
How safe are Homeopathic medicines?
In clinical studies, most homeopathic products have proven to be free of harmful side effects often experienced with conventional medications. Health-conscious people have learned to rely on the purity, safety and healing powers of homeopathic medicines, which are strictly regulated, as drugs, by the Food & Drug Administration. B&T Products are prepared homeopathically in accordance with the Homeopathic Pharmacopeia of the United States (HPUS).
