Two special UV filters in Color Care Shampoo that provide added all day protection while natural soap & detergent-free Shikai Extract provides gentle cleansing. ShiKai natural hair care products are plant based, low detergent, naturally pH balanced, extra gentle and leave incredible shine and manageability.
Each ShiKai Shampoo is based on this special botanical extract obtained from the fruit of an East Asian acacia tree. The secret is nature's own natural soap-free cleanser, wildcrafted shikakai. It is this extract which provides rich, dense, gentle lather and leaves hair shiny and manageable. A blend of Aloe Vera and Panthenol provides extra moisturizing and conditioning.

What is Shikakai?
SHIKAKAI (Acacia Concinna) is a little known secret for maintaining healthy hair. ShiKai use it simply because it works. It is the best, most natural shampoo they've found. Its gentle, low pH lather cleans thoroughly without drying the hair or scalp. It leaves hair smooth, shiny and full of body. It is a true and natural alternative to soap and detergent based shampoos.
Shikakai is a small spindly plant that grows in the arid regions of India and Burma. Its claim to fame is its large pod which has been collected, ground into powder, mixed with water and used for centuries as a gentle cleanser for "lustrous long hair". In fact, "shikakai" literally translates as "fruit for the hair".
ShiKai import shikakai powder from the East and use it as the primary cleansing agent in their Natural Shampoos. ShiKai does this so they can offer a gentle, mild, naturally low pH alternative to all other shampoos on the market -- and it really works!

I've been trying to find an natural paraben and sulfite free shampoo that doesn't wash the color out of my hair. I have dark brown hair, and color it to cover the gray that is coming in more and more. The Shikai shampoo was gentle on my color, but was pretty drying. I have fine hair that gets fuzzy if I don't treat it right. If you have more oily hair, you may just love it. It does lather well and smell good. It just wasn't the best for my hair type. If your still searching, try Giovanni, I've been using the smooth as silk shampoo and it's my favorite so far.

This is the 4th or 5th natural shampoo I tried, and I'm glad I was persistent! I am really happy with this one. I exercise frequently and have oily hair, and this gets my hair clean without over-drying or dangerous chemicals. Will be sticking with this product and trying the conditioner this winter.

Best shampoo for color treated hair.

I love Shikai products in general and had high hopes for this shampoo. Most of the "color care" shampoos I've used have left my somewhat oily fine straight hair limp or limper. One of the reviewers for this product said it dried out their hair, which sounded promising. But no, this one too is heavy on my hair. Too bad.

I love this company's products. This shampoo is gentle for colored hair and doesn't fade the color.

I color my hair and this shampoo is gentle -- helps keep my color nice longer.

I do like this shampoo for my color treated hair. However, when it was shipped the cap came off and everything in my order was sticky. I did call customer service and they sent me out a new shampoo.
