About Coconut Secret
It all began in the Spring of 2008, with an overwhelming desire to create a low glycemic, gluten-free snack line that was truly safe for diabetics, using the purest, most organic, least processed ingredients we could find. A few years earlier both our parents were diagnosed with Diabetes, and we quickly became appalled at what was being passed off as “diabetic-safe” foods, especially in the snack category. We discovered, that oftentimes, sugar is disguised on labels in a myriad of creative technical terms. Newly invented imitation sugar substitutes are used as sweetening agents. Sugar in other forms are frequently added such as fruit juice concentrates, honey (which when heated and processed for use in manufacturing, essentially becomes sugar syrup), and the most infamous of all, “high fructose corn syrup” (HFCS), now widely known as one of the primary contributors to Diabetes and Obesity. None of these sweeteners are truly “safe”, no matter how they are purported to breakdown in the body. Coconut sugar is made by collecting the “sap” from coconut tree blossoms. Who knew?! There are specific species of coconut trees that can be “tapped” (much like maple trees are tapped in the maple syrup making process). Bamboo containers are used to collect the sap of the coconut trees right at the blossoms. When the coconut trees are tapped, they produce a continuously flowing “inflorescence” (juice or sap) that exudes from the coconut blossoms. This naturally sweet sap is very low glycemic (GI of only 35, with only 16% sucrose), raw and enzymatically alive, is an abundant source of 17 amino acids, minerals, vitamin C, broad-spectrum B vitamins, and has a nearly neutral pH. It is then minimally evaporated for less than an hour (only to remove excess moisture), at low temperatures, never exceeding an average summer day in the tropics. The end result is a syrup-like product known as coconut “toddy”, which is then further evaporated into crystal form to produce the coconut sugar.

Coconut Secret - Raw Coconut Aminos Soy-Free Seasoning Sauce - 8 oz.65% Less Sodium than Soy Sauce
Raw Coconut Aminos Soy-Free Seasoning Sauce by Coconut Secret Coconut Secret - Raw Coconut Aminos Soy-Free Seasoning Sauce - 8 oz. (237 ml)
Coconut Secret Raw Coconut Aminos Soy-Free Seasoning Sauce contains 65% Less Sodium than Soy Sauce! Coconut Secret Raw Coconut Aminos Soy-Free Seasoning Sauce has many nutritional benefits, most notably is its impressive amino acid content compared to soy-based sauces. Commonly described as the "building blocks of protein," amino acids are vitally important to human health. They contribute to the repair and rebuilding of muscle tissue, help to enhance overall brain and nervous system function, and assist in boosting the immune system and physical energy levels. Second only to water, protein is one of the most important substances in our bodies, which is why it is nutritionally beneficial to consume a diet that is rich in amino acids.
- 100% Organic

- Dairy-Free
- Vegan
Coconut Aminos vs. Soy-Based sauces A comparison between coconut tree sap and soy, shows that coconut sap contains up to 14 times the amino acid content of soy. Many soy sauces on the market are fermented by first soaking the soybeans in water and salt, and then adding specific cultures of molds, yeasts, and bacteria to help catalyze the fermentation process. Coconut Aminos is made from coconut tree sap, which comes out of the tree so vital, active and alive with nutrients, that it is only blended with Coconut Secrets' own sun dried mineral-rich sea salt and aged, without the need for a fermentation booster or added water. As well, the majority of conventional soy sauces on the market are made with non-organic, genetically modified (GMO) soybeans. Long term use of unfermented soy-related products has led to an increase in soy allergies, a disruption in proper thyroid function, and an overload of estrogens in the body. Infants fed exclusively soy-based formula have 13,000 - 22,000 times more estrogen compounds in their blood than babies fed milk-based formula, the equivalent of five birth control pills per day.
Health Secrets of Coconut Aminos When the coconut tree is tapped, it produces a naturally sweet, nutrient-rich "sap" that exudes from the coconut blossoms. This sap is very low glycemic and contains 17 amino acids, minerals, Vitamin C, broad-spectrum B vitamins, and has nearly neutral pH. Small batches ensure that organic Coconut Aminos, made from natural sap, is a raw, enzymatically alive product that never exceeds the temperatures of an average summer day in the tropics. The "Gran Molucas Sea Salt" used in Coconut Aminos, garners its name from the exotic, tropical island of Mindanao, the 2nd largest island in the Philippines. It is surrounded on all sides by converging Pacific ocean waters ~ the Sulu Sea to the West, the Celebes Sea to the South, and the Philippine Sea to the East. A local culinary heritage in Mindanao, this unbleached, unrefined, naturally white sea salt, is fed only by the sun and the sea. It is hand-harvested by local salt producers working as their forefathers did, in the ancestral salt fields. After many days of labor, the salt is then sun-dried (to evaporate excess moisture) in open-air cages lined with clay bricks. The result, is a distinctly flavorful and nutritious, mineral-rich, unrefined sea salt.
Health Benefits of Coconut Tree Products
Helps Prevent Obesity by speeding up metabolism, providing an immediate source of energy with fewer calories than other fats. People who consistently use coconut products, report a stronger ability to go without eating for several hours with no affects of hypoglycemia.
Improves Heart Health by providing healthy short chain and medium chain fatty acids (MCFA) that are essential to good health. Close to 98% of all fatty acids consumed are composed of long-chain fatty acids (LCFA), which are very different from MCFA that have no negative effect on cholesterol ratios and help to lower the risk of atherosclerosis and protect against heart disease. Studies have shown that populations in Polynesia and Sri Lanka, where coconuts are a dietary staple, do not suffer from high serum cholesterol or heart disease. Unlike other fats, the unique properties of coconut also contain a large amount of lauric acid, which is the predominant fatty acid found in mother's milk.
High in Dietary Fiber rivaling other fiber sources such as psyllium, wheat bran, oat bran, and rice bran. Coconut supplies an impressive 61% dietary fiber! Foods contain two types of carbohydrates – digestible and non-digestible. Digestible carbohydrates (soluble fiber) consists of starch and sugar and promote calories. Non-digestible carbohydrates (insoluble fiber) contains NO calories. Since the body cannot digest the dietary fiber in coconut, no calories are derived from it and it has no effect on blood sugar.
Low Glycemic Index (GI) measures how fast available carbohydrates in food raise blood sugar levels. Coconut fiber slows down the release of glucose, therefore requiring less insulin to utilize the glucose and transport it into the cell where it is converted into energy. Coconut also assists in relieving stress on the pancreas and enzyme systems of the body, in turn, reducing the risks associated with Diabetes. Coconut Nectar and Crystals have a very low GI of only 35 (compared to honey with a GI of 55-83, and sugar with a GI of 65-100.)
Reduces Sweet Cravings and improves insulin secretion and utilization of blood glucose. The healthy fat in coconut slows down any rise in blood sugar and helps to reduce hypoglycemic cravings.
Improves Digestion and many of the symptoms and inflammatory conditions associated with digestive and bowel disorders, by supporting absorption of other nutrients including vitamins, minerals, and amino acids while also providing beneficial dietary fiber.
Quick Energy Boost that provides a super nutritious source of extra energy. Coconut is utilized by the body to actually produce energy, rather than to store it as body fat. It supports improved endurance during physical and athletic performance. As well, it promotes healthy thyroid function and helps to relieve the symptoms of chronic fatigue.
Coconut helps to aid and support overall Immune System functions.

Great tasting and happy to have found a better than comparable replacement for soy/tamari sauce that's healthier. Excellent product !
-
I saw this product on your site
-
-
I was very surprised by the taste. I use to buy braggs but I am trying to cut out all soy. This has a much sweeter taste and is a little more expensive but, I like it very much. It is great on salad, mmmm....
-
Not a real fan of the flavor. Could probably be an aquired taste thing and it is soy free. If I like it better after a few more tries I will post a new review.
-
My husband would drink this stuff by the gallon if he could (ha ha). Excellent product! He puts it on "everything". I placed another order for 7 bottles. I thought I'd miss our favorite top of the line tamari and soy sauces, but Raw Coconut Aminos is great and I think even better!
-
I really like this soy free alternative! I just wish it was a little cheaper and in a larger bottle....but love how it works in place of regular soy and even worcestershire sauce!
-
i love this "stuff"! i mix it with water and it goes a long way. in my opinion, it's ingredients are better than soy aminos.
-
FANTASTIC, I ORDERED 5 BOTTLES AND IT'S ALMOST GONE
-
A nice low sodium alternative for Soy Sauce. Taste good too.
-
This stuff rules! I don't eat soy and this is a great replacement.
-
This too is a staple and very good. I use it instead of Braggs liquid aminos to avoid soy and the price is good.
-
Try mixing it w/ Coconut Secret's "Raw Coconut Flour" to form a paste (can add a little water/Coconut Secret's Vinegar as well). Also, Herbs, Tomato, etc... can be added to the paste as well.
"Keep UpThe Excellent Efforts

I actually like this much better than regular soy sauce. It is perfect to cook with and use for dipping. I little pricey, but well worth it.
-
I have severe rheumatoid arthritis and have found that Raw Coconut Aminos is a delicious and nutritious alternative to the soy aminos.
-
-
I would absolutely give this a higher rating if I could! it's DELICIOUS. salty, a little sweet, savoury, and perfect for paleo dieters such as myself. I wish it came in a bigger bottle! it's definitely my favourite cooking sauce.
-
Delicious coconut flavor, light on the sodium, and not a bad price to boot.
-
good, had problems with first shipment since it is fermented the pressure builds up in bottle but lucky vitamin was awesome.
-
On a soy free diet, but I love soy sauce. The coconut aminos are the perfect replacement for soy sauce. I have actually grown to like it better. On my second bottle. Just wish the bottle was bigger.
-
My favorite especially when I cook a turkey or chicken, I lay it on it, spread it and yummy! Also is great with stir frys and more. Healthier option!
-
a nice alternative to soy aminos. very good in stir fry or on spinach salad with mangos and coconut oil
-
this is a PERFECT substitute for soy sauce! LOVE it! Will definitely buy again.
-
this is good with bragg aminos ,good mix.
-
-
I use this on almost anything from vegetables to chicken and fish.
-
My whole family is on the GAPS/SCD diet so all soy products are out. This is a great replacement for soy sauce. It needs less dilution but has a wonderful flavor. The fact that it is a raw product is also very exciting. I use Raw Coconut Aminos for all my Asian dishes - Bulgogi, stir-fries, etc. It's also perfect as a base for homemade Worcestershire sauce - add spices, anchovy paste, etc. I'm so grateful this exists! I think I've now tried all the Coconut Secret products and they are all great. It's hard to find the Raw Coconut Aminos in stores. LuckyVitamin had the best price so I ordered 4 bottles.
-
Product manufacturer does not seal the bottle properly- leaked in shipment to me- TWICE!
-
Good products for people who are allergic to soy. However the bottles are not tightly closed and three out of four were leaking and arrived half empty.
-
I use this all the time, and it's a good soy sauce sub, but dang, I wish they'd make that lid a little stronger -- it consistently leaks on other products in the box, despite luckyvitamin's best taping efforts. In fairness, when I complained about this issue, the company said they are working on it, and luckyvitamin gave me a coupon to use on my next order, even though it is not their fault. :)
-
What a great product! It's about time someone came up with a soy-free sauce that could substitute for soy sauce. It's got a hint of sweetness from the coconut, and it's not too high in sodium (way less that even low sodium say sauce)!
-
I like this product.....however all three bottles arrived only 3/4 full....they had leaked under the cap into the packaging. The manufacturer was helpful in explaining the variances in batches, and the effervessence of coconut aminos. Bottom line....I like the product, but am leery of buying online because of the possibility of leakage and ruin of the entire order.
-
Perfect for soy allergies. Made a chop souy, couldn't tell a difference
-
I love this product. From sashimi to chicken, any fish, any veggie the flavor is beautiful and not overly salty. My new addiction!!!!!! Fabulous service from Lucky Vitamin too! Thanks a million for my new addiction!
-
I cannot say enough good about this product. It is beyond remarkable. A shot of these 17 aminos recovers blood glucose that has jumped a little too high. I tastes better than soy sauce and is far healthier. Lucky Vits has excellent pricing on this item.
-
Love this!! So glad I made this purchase!
-
-
This is a very good product. Is fresh in this size.
-
-
I like this product because it is raw, coconut-not soy- and its taste is quite OK.
-
A very tasty alternative to soy sauce.
-
Excellent option for a substitue for soy sauce.
-
Very low in sodium Excellent flavor using a small amount.
-
-
This is a great replacement for soy sauce in Asian recipes!
-
So good! Love the soy-free & the flavor is even better.
-
Very good! I use in place of soy sauce.
-
Since I am allergic to soy I was very happy to find this product. I use it in place of regular soy sauce in all my recipes. It is a little sweet compared to soy sauce, but a reasonable substitute in most cases. Lucky has the best price I've found. I order at least 4 bottles at a time and then it is less expensive than at Whole Foods (the only other store I've found that carries it) even with the shipping. In the past there was a little trouble with foaming in the product and leaking over the side. I didn't have that issue this time, so perhaps that problem has been solved.Overall, I'm very pleased with this product and will order it again.
-
First time buying this item as a replacement for soy sauce and it is excellent, a slightly different flavor but still good.
-
A great replacement for soy sauce. In our family 1 member is type 2 diabetic, and the other has soy alergies. This product is perfect for both of them! And, it tastes good too! Thats why I bought 6 bottles! The order was easy and delivery was fast.
-
Very fast delivery of an item that other retailers hadon backorder.
-
I am so happy Coconut Aminos exist. I'm a fan of the way soy sauce tastes but I avoid gmo's and high sodium content. Now I make my own teriyaki and marinade food with it. Works amazingly well on veggies, rice, meat, and even on my eggs. Delicious! I love this stuff! Try it! [:
-
The smell is not very appealing nor the flavor. Not sure I will repurchase.
